Technology Strategy Board (TSB)

The Technology Strategy Board is a business-led executive non-departmental public body, established by the United Kingdom Government. Its mission is to promote and support research into, and development and exploitation of, technology and innovation for the benefit of UK business, in order to increase economic growth and improve the quality of life.
The Technology Strategy Board invest in research and development, building national and international partnerships between business, research and Government to address major societal challenges; and run a wide range of knowledge exchange programmes to help innovation flourish.
With a leading role in UK innovation, we help to build and maintain the country’s global competitiveness. The Technology Strategy Board operates across Government and work in partnership with business, Government departments, RDAs, Devolved Administrations and UK University Research Councils.
The Technology Strategy Board invest in projects involving business and researchers working together to deliver successful new technology-based products and services. Over 700 CR&D projects have received investment since 2004, amounting to over £ 1 bio. (about half from TSB and half from the business sector). Over the period 2009 to 2012 the Technology Strategy Board will be investing around £ 1 bio., including collaborative activity with the Research Councils and the UK Devolved Administrations and Regional Development Agencies.
